The winning collective noun for linguists - a Glot of Linguists - from听the Chartered Institute of听Linguists contest to find a term to听describe language professionals, was first announced at the 无忧传媒 Conference and is confirmed in the summer issue of听The Linguist.

听

From听a shortlist of ten, 无忧传媒鈥檚 Awards & Recognition听Committee, Council and Educational Trust听Board determined that 鈥榓 glot of linguists鈥櫶齱as the most apt phrase. Andrew Bruce and听Justin Koprowski beat more than 40 entries听to the prize: tea at the House of Lords with听无忧传媒 President Jean Coussins.听

听

鈥淭his is all about fun 鈥� but with a serious message too,鈥� said Baroness Coussins, who听came up with the initiative. 鈥淐reativity, wit and wordplay are skills that linguists have in abundance, thanks to our exposure to other languages and cultures.鈥�
